Karthik Dinakar is a computer scientist in machine learning, natural language processing, and human-computer interaction. Karthik was a Reid Hoffman Fellow at MIT and the recipient of the 2015 Dewey Winburne Award. Karthik has previously held positions at Microsoft and Deutsche. He was invited to the White House on two occasions to present hisresearch on the computational detection of cyberbullying and use of probabilistic graphical Bayesian models for crisis counseling. Karthik holds a doctoral degree from MIT

Matt Groh

MIT Media Lab

Matt is a computational social scientist and PhD candidate at the MIT Media Lab in the Affective Computing group. His research examines human-AI collaborative decision-making with a focus on three real-world problems: misinformation, algorithmic bias, and hidden influences of affect on decision-making.

Matthew Nock

Harvard University

Professor Nock received his Ph.D. in psychology from Yale University (2003) and completed his clinical internship at Bellevue Hospital and the New York University Child Study Center (2003). Nock’s research is aimed at advancing the understanding of why people behave in ways that are harmful to themselves, with an emphasis on suicide and other forms of self-harm.

Dr. Barbara Van Dahlen

Dr. Barbara Van Dahlen is the Co-Chair, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of WeBe Life Inc. A licensed clinical psychologist, she received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Maryland in 1991.

Dr. Van Dahlen is an expert on the psychological impact of war and a thought leader in mobilizing constituencies to create large system change in the mental health sector. She is widely recognized for her work in changing the culture associated with mental health in order to remove barriers and increase access to care.

Birago is a UI/UX expert with a breadth of knowledge spanning hardware, IoT, VR and AR. Birago earned his Masters of Science from MIT where he focused on artificial intelligence, HCI (Human Computer Interaction) and User Experience. He’s leveraged this unique skill-set working with companies like Google, Motorola, and Cisco, to name a few. Birago is the founder and president of the MIT Media Lab Alumni Association, a mentor at Google’s 30 Weeks accelerator, and speaks regularly at conferences around the world.

Vikram J. Singh

Senior Advisor, Asia Center

Vikram J. Singh is senior advisor to the Asia Program at USIP. Singh has been a leader of innovation in public policy and global affairs at the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of State, and major non-profits. He advises USIP on all aspects of peace and stability in Asia including Afghanistan and Pakistan, Myanmar, China’s role in the region, and North Korea.

From 2014 to 2017 Singh was vice president for national security and international policy at the Center for American Progress, where he established CAP’s Asia program and launched work on nuclear security, a major task force on U.S – India relations, and a program on defending the internet as a force for democracy.
